Public fields
Keep the fields that prove professional relevance. Reconsider exact dates, old education entries, personal websites, and optional contact details.
Search preview
Search engines and logged-out visitors may see a smaller version of your profile. Treat that preview as a separate publishing surface.
Open-to-work, saved searches, applicant signals, and recruiter visibility are useful during an active search. Close or narrow them after the search ends.
Use messages for professional coordination, not long-term storage. Move contracts, sensitive documents, and personal contact data to systems you control.
| Area | Question to answer | Suggested default |
|---|---|---|
| Profile | Can a stranger infer more than your professional story requires? | Public for role proof, private for personal coordinates. |
| Network | Do connection lists expose clients, candidates, or confidential relationships? | Restrict visibility where possible. |
| Personalization | Which recommendations depend on behavioral or partner data? | Disable anything that is not worth the trade. |
